The guide provided good insight regarding key sites to see and was a good planning tool. The book laid out a clear plan based on length of trip, which I found extremely helpful.I would suggest adding a section to the book that describes the sites to use a tour guide/group. Also, there are sites that need to have tickets purchased well in advance (especially in Florence). I would suggest including that information in a specific section. Some key facts were a bit buried in the book.
We used this book in tandem with the bigger Frommer's Italy guide, along with other books, and found that to be a good strategy, as this has a bit more detail on the three cities covered (we were going to all three, alongside Naples, Pompeii and the Amalfi Coast---we used the other guidse for those places). We appreciated how interesting the author made the history in these cities, and all the tips we were given so that we could not waste any of our precious vacation time. Best tip: go to the Vatican on a Friday evening! Hardly any crowds then. We also LOVED the restaurants this guide led us to (am going to have to go on a diet now!). I can't say enough good things about this book and Frommer's Italy. They are the best on the market by far, and we looked at a bunch, both before and while traveling.

This is a good guide. I wish the map included Florence because it’s handy to carry alone without the guide.
Very good tour guide. The only concern is the characters are pretty small.
Gf and I are planning our trip to Italy and this book gives great insight on what to do where to eat etc. would recommend to anyone who is planning on going to Italy
Frustrating that the nice, full-color pull-out map only includes city maps for Rome and Venice and not Florence. Both cities are on one side of the map while the other side has a large map of the country. Bummer!
Easy to read and so much information & in a handy little book that was easy to carry in my backpack.
